The Students’ Union of the College, more popularly known as the B.N.C.S.U. was established in 1989 with all regular students as members of the general body of the Union. The basic objective and motto of the Student’s Union is to work for the welfare of the students and to maintain a completely apolitical , educational and a healthy environment for the students. The office-bearers of the Union are elected every year by the eligible voters from amongst the students. The Principal is the ex-officio President of the Students’ Union. With the co-operation of the Principal and the teachers, the student’s representative body namely the Student’s Union is functional in hosting and organizing different events and college activities namely like Fresher’s Welcome – ALAAP, INDEPENDENCE DAY celebration, Annual College Social – DHUN, FAREWELL AND SPORTS including the BIDHANNAGAR COLLEGE PREMIER LEAGUE (BCPL) as well as Cultural Competitions in the college. Bidhannagar College can boast of a very responsible Students’ Union. By maintaining a healthy link between students and college authorities, it contributes immensely to the health of the educational atmosphere of the institute.
The Constitution of the union reflects the democratic spirit and disciplined conduct expected of a proud member associated with the College. The objectives of constitution is to encourage healthy academic life in the college and stimulate the spirit of co-operative activities and social service among the students, and to promote discipline, sense of responsibility, social harmony, integrity and fraternity among the students. The primary responsibility of the Union is to ensure that the focus of the student community remains on the path of excellence in higher education.

Every bona-fide Under-graduate and Post-graduate students of a particular academic session are members of this Students Union. However, only the regular students of a particular academic session can enjoy the privileges of casting their votes, contesting in the election to the Union, as well as holding offices in the Union in that particular academic session only. The Union Council is a body of class representatives, with the ratio of representation being 1:30 students. They are elected by the students of the college every year. The Union Council members in turn elect the office bearers of the Cabinet among themselves. The tenure of the elected body is one year. Election process generally takes place through the months of January and February of each year. The election schedule is prepared in consultation with the district administration. An Election Committee consisting of the faculty members is constituted to supervise the election process.
